Thought it was about time I posted something on here, as I have neglected to do so for quite sometime. Just been to the opticians to have my eyes checked out. Appears there’s no change to my eyes since the last visit.
When I arrived for my appointment, sharp at 3:25, the young man said to me, "Oh, while you're waiting, just browse all the spectacle frames, will you, and then take a seat over there."
I thought to myself, this doesn't sound like much fun, looking at spectacle frames, but I thought I'd better just do as he says. So, I spent approximately four seconds looking at the frames and sat myself down.
It didn't take too long before I was called in. The young man took some photographs of my eyes, and I had to keep them wide open. Then there were about three puffs of air into each eye.
After that, these massive, great big spectacle things were put in front of me, attached to a massive arm that appeared where the lenses were changed all very quickly by the machine - nothing done by hand anymore. I had to read the chart of letters—each eye in turn and then both eyes together. I don't remember having to do both eyes together before, I think I did quite well at that, only odd letter I struggled with.
There was a new thing where they presented letters in front of me on different backgrounds:
1. A green background with what I think was black lettering
2. A red background, again with black lettering
I had to say which was the clearest. Then there was the close-up test where the letters were presented on a card. This was still attached to that massive arm while I was wearing those huge glasses—and again, you have to keep saying which is the clearest and which is not.
It seems like every time you go there, they do something different. Anyway, that was my trip to the opticians on Saturday, 2nd May, 2026.
